The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Supervisor plans, organizes and manages the plants Manufacturing Engineering function for the Professional Tools Elyria Manufacturing Plant. This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This role ensures effective day-to-day engineering support for production, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and supports process stability, quality, and cost efficiency.

The ME Supervisor effectively manages the balance between tactical production support with proactive process improvements across multiple production areas. Also, they are expected to facilitate the Engineering Change (EC) process, as well as support capital and strategic improvement projects as possible.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, You Will:

  • Supervise and coach a team of Manufacturing Engineers, ensuring effective support of assigned production areas.
  • Manage day-to-day activities, including supporting ME task prioritization, resource allocation, and production support coverage to ensure timely response to process issues affecting production.
  • Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for safety, quality, and efficiency problems.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the engineering team by conducting regular 1-on-1s, performance evaluations, and developmental coaching.
  • Assign, track, and support the execution of engineering improvement projects (capital projects, scrap reduction, cycle/setup time reductions, cost savings, etc.)
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in machining processes, tooling, and process optimization to support issue resolution and process improvement.
  • Attend daily production meetings to align engineering support with operational priorities.
  • Drive standardization of engineering practices and documentation across all production areas and promote best practices in CNC machining, process design, structured problem-solving, lean tools, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Engineering Change (EC) process, ensuring timely and accurate implementation of design, process, or documentation changes.
  • Collaborate with the ME Manager on ME development plans, process improvements, management processes, etc. to continually improve the overall effectiveness of the ME department

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Five (5) years of proven experience
  • Experience in a CNC machining manufacturing environment
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience leading teams or projects
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States sponsorship will not be provided

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Preferred degrees: Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing
  • Capital Budget actual spend vs budgeted spend
  • New Equipment meet project objectives
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, JDE, etc.)
  • Team Development and Performance Management
  • Project deadlines related to production continuous improvement projects
