Job Description:

The Centrifugal Senior Project Engineer is part of Copelands advanced technology oil-free centrifugal team. As part of the centrifugal advanced technology team this role will play a key role in the technology advancement of Aero-LiftTM technology for additional applications.

As a Centrifugal Senior Project Engineer, You Will:

  • Ready products, features and components for New Product Development. Take early stage TRLs 1-3 and advance to TRL 45 through structured problem solving and design of experiment.

  • Ideate, Fabricate and Validate advancements to Copeland core oil-free technologies such as oil-free bearings, high speed motors, control algorithms, and centrifugal compression

  • Develop both analytical and empirical validation procedures for compressors and its components

  • Work with new product development team and other worlds areas to transfer validated technologies for commercialization

  • Provide critical thinking and an inquisitive mindset to advance design development of centrifugal technology

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, planning, marketing, manufacturing, procurement, and others

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent combination of work and educational experience.

  • Five (5) years of work experience in industrial / technical field, or equivalent

  • High degree of learning agility

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with bearing design, turbo-machinery and HVAC is a plus

  • Experience with mechanical systems, compression equipment, high speed rotating motion mechanisms, rotor dynamics, electrical components, fixture design or other manufacturing process experience.

  • Design for experiments, manufacturing, assembly, and production design techniques

  • Experience with 3D CAD software such as NX (preferred), SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and use of FEA for mechanical analyses

  • Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up

Onsite Work Arrangement:

This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities
