Who are we looking for?

GHD has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing US Central team based out of our Houston, TX ; Baton Rouge, LA or Farmington Hills, MI offices! Working with our Engineering Design Organization (EDO) youll participate in the planning, design and construction engineering of various types of facilities. Youll also assist in the development of master plans, technical reports, design drawings, specifications, cost estimates and preparation of permit submittals.

The primary focus is on Energy projects, such as refining, chemicals, terminals, and underground storage. This position will also support environmental and remediation, as well as civil aspects of municipal, state, and federal projects. The successful candidate will have demonstrated competence in:

• Working in a multi-discipline environment through the various stages of project offering, including proposal development, concept stage, through to Issued for Construction and As-Built recording
• Survey and Site Control
• Site Grading and Drainage
• Stormwater control and design (floodplain mitigation, etc.)
• Facility roads and industrial rail
• Large earthworks
• High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) liner systems, such as for landfills and reservoirs

Working with an energetic and hard-working team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Development of supporting project information (i.e. calculations, analyses, evaluations, cost estimates, report text, figures, drawings, specifications, etc.)
• Performing construction phase engineering tasks (i.e. submittal review, test data evaluation and compilation, etc.); report compiling
• Assisting with the development of drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Assisting with the development of specifications
• Assisting with condition assessments and reviews of existing facilities
• Helping to develop preliminary facilities layouts and designs
• Maintaining open communication with project team members and project managers
• Train and mentor entry level engineers
• Ability to act as the lead Designer of Record for the civil engineering discipline on multidiscipline projects

What you will bring to the team:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering
• 10+ years of experience
• Professional Engineering license in one or more states required
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Knowledge of HEC-RAS modeling software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently; ability to monitor and manage scope of work, schedule and budgets
• Focus on customer services
• Devise approaches to problem resolution
• Ability to be proactive and take ownership of the task involved
• Willingness to observe construction activities and complete field investigations
