Thalle Construction Co. Inc. is seeking an experienced Welder Foreman to lead a crew of welders performing fabrication, installation, and repair work on stainless and carbon steel pipe systems for heavy civil construction projects. The Welder Foreman will be responsible for supervising daily welding operations, ensuring work is performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications. This role requires a strong technical background in pipe welding, hands-on leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient jobsite.

Job Title: Welder Foreman

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of welders in the cutting, fitting, and welding of stainless and carbon steel pipe using gas, arc, and other welding equipment.
  • Coordinate daily welding activities to support construction operations, including the maintenance and repair of equipment as needed.
  • Perform and oversee skilled welding, brazing, and soldering tasks in accordance with safety codes and quality standards.
  • Use equipment such as power saws, grinders, drills, welders, torch sets, plasma cutters, and service truck cranes to complete tasks.
  • Diagnose issues, disassemble equipment or piping systems, repair or modify components, and reassemble to full function.
  • Ensure completed welds meet established codes, tolerances, and structural requirements through thorough inspection.
  • Collaborate with field personnel, equipment operators, and project managers to maintain workflow and schedule efficiency.
  • Train and mentor crew members, ensuring proper welding techniques, tool handling, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Monitor and maintain welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, stooping, walking, and material handling as needed.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of heavy equipment or industrial pipe welding experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in welding stainless and carbon steel pipe.
  • Strong experience using welders, torch sets, plasma cutters, and service truck cranes.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and oversight to the welding crew, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project goals and quality standards.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment and resolve work issues without constant supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and effectively interface with both office and field personnel.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Work long shifts.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
  • Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area up to 1/2 mile.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment drug screen.
