Job Description

I have a small woodworking business building fine furniture, and custom cabinetry. Examples of work include tables, chairs, kitchens, office built-ins, bookcases etc.
I have been doing this work alone for years, and the business has grown to a point where I need a number 2 to help with the work load.

An ideal candidate would have some or all of these qualities:

- Past woodworking skills in a shop, and familiarity with machines is a must.
- Any CAD program skills is a major plus
- An ability to self manage time and goals. A self starter that enjoys the work
- knowledge of materials - hardwoods, plywood, veneer work.
- A set of your own handtools and some power tools - handplanes, chisels, squares, tape measures etc. Drills, sanders a plus.
- Ability to interface with clients directly and see projects from start to finish
- Your own transportation
- Able to manage full sheets of plywood on your own

The ideal person would be able to take projects from start to finish without a lot of direction. Be personable enough to meet clients, listen to their needs, take notes, and come up with your own idea's if need be. I would much rather be someone that you work with, rather than for. I don't want to have to keep track of hours you work, and whether you're keeping up with deadlines. You can start and finish your day whenever you want. If you need/want to take a day off, you take it. My main focus is on the quality of work, and that we're delivering for clients.
I have a space in our shop ready for you to set up, and be your own space. I have a work table that needs to be built out, and that would likely be your first paid project.
This will start off as a 1099 tax situation - independent contractor. We can discuss the inclusion into payroll after we establish a good working situation.
Compensation will be based on experience and ability. It would be good for you to have a number in mind for yourself if we meet for an interview. I have a view of being fair with compensation, as I want everyone to feel their worth is being valued.

Please reach out with a resume with references, and example pictures of your past work
