Position Overview: The Drilling Project Controller plays a vital role in executing projects for our clients and maintaining the reporting on those projects. This position involves budgeting and procurement of projects during the planning phase, tracking of vendor spend against approved budgets in the execution phase, and preparing final reporting for the project during the close-out phase. The ideal candidate must have prior oil & gas experience both onshore and offshore in Alaska, specifically finance and accounting experience. This role requires close attention to detail and the ability to read and understand standard oil & gas service company commercial agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- AFE Estimates:
- Assist, with engineering & operations input, in preparing detailed budgetary estimates for oil & gas exploration, development, and capital project scopes.
- Project Request for Proposal & Procurement Process:
- Prepare, with engineering & operations input, Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for service vendors across all scopes required to execute an exploratory drilling, development drilling, or oil & gas capital project.
- Assist in the commercial evaluation of RFP responses.
- Prepare Work Order / Purchase Order documentation in line with client – provider Master Service Agreement terms and conditions.
- Operations Cost Tracking:
- Prepare and maintain routine cost tracking for exploratory drilling, development drilling, and oil & gas capital project operations.
- Prepare and deliver routine reports on spend to date by vendor and / or scope for the project management team.
- Project Close Out:
- Coordinate close out of project costs and invoicing with service providers in a timely manner.
- Prepare final reporting on total spend and variances for clients.
Qualifications:
- Associate of Arts or equivalent in business or accounting required; additional education or certifications in accounting, technical writing, or a related field is a plus.
- 10+ years of oil & gas experience, Alaska specific
- 5+ years accounting / finance experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software
- Experience with standard accounting / financial software like SAP
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills with both project team and clients.
- Knowledge of accounting terminology.
- Knowledge of oil & gas terminology.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with regular business hours; some availability for over-time Monday-Friday based on project timelines highly preferable.
