JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer that will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of new and sustaining patient monitoring devices and instruments for capnography. Will utilize engineering knowledge and experience to solve problems and elevate Masimo's product design, quality, and innovation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for the design and development of activities associated with the company's consumable plastic products and instruments in the Capnography department.

Responsible for 3D CAD modeling and release of 2D detailed drawings of parts and assemblies.

Serve as technical lead and work with suppliers, electrical, software, manufacturing, tooling, and other engineering groups to ensure the successful development and launch of new products.

Develops mechanical requirements, test plans, and procedures.

Coordinate verification testing on new and modified designs.

Participates in cross-functional design reviews to represent the mechanical team.

Utilizes best-in-class tools to develop innovative solutions to highly complex problems.

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of mechanical design experience.

Experience with mechanical design of medical device parts and assemblies.

Knowledge of materials and assembly/bonding methods.

Expertise in 3D CAD modeling design with solids and surfacing (SolidWorks is preferred).

Experience in leading projects successfully and design control.

Prototype development.

Product development from concept to production.

Design for manufacturability (DFM).

Strong foundation in mathematics and physical modeling fundamentals.

Experience with product development methodologies and processes.

Detail-oriented with attention to product quality.

Excellent problem solving and analysis skills.

Must be able to write and analyze requirements, functional specifications, design specifications, test plans, and documentation.

Ability to excel in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks toward completion targets under minimal supervision.

Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interface effectively with management and cross-functional teams.

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Ability to work onsite Monday - Friday in Irvine, CA.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing medical devices, accessories or consumables.

Familiarity with regulated medical product development practices.

Basic test lab skills.

Basic machine shop skills.

Compensation: The anticipated range for this position is $105,000 - $130,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience.
