Crane Operator - Nuclear
A Nuclear Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating various types of cranes, including Gantry, Overhead, Polar, Lattice, and Mobile cranes. This role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a nuclear environment. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Perform all job duties safely according to job requirements.
- Identify safety equipment on specific pieces of equipment.
- Read and use the operator's manual.
- Perform general cleanup of the machine.
- Identify components and controls of the machine.
- Perform daily service and maintenance of the machine.
- Demonstrate proper use and interpretation of hand signals.
- Operate the machine efficiently and safely.
- Perform machine setup for operation.
- Assist with scheduled service and maintenance.
- Read and use all capacity charts for the machine.
- Perform basic rigging operations.
- Perform craft-related math.
- Maintain a clean work area and ensure good housekeeping.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience.
- Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
- NCCCO certifications
- Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
- Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
- Availability for shift work, if needed.
- Ability to support other crafts as requested.
- Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
- Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
- Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
- Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
- Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.

- Capacity to think, concentrate, and focus for long periods.
- Ability to read and write complex documents in English.
