Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support the design and development of industrial equipment and automated machinery. The ideal candidate is proficient in SolidWorks and has a strong foundation in mechanical design principles, including GD&T, DFM, and tolerance stack-up analysis. A hands-on approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work with machined parts, weldments, and sheet metal are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and revise 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks
Import and adapt CAD models from other platforms (e.g., AutoDesk Inventor)
Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T
Reverse engineer components and assemblies
Review and redline engineering drawings for accuracy and manufacturability
Design mechanical systems including linear actuators, ball screws, chain drives, and VFD/servo-driven components
Specify materials, surface finishes, and coatings
Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BoMs)
Create exploded views and clear assembly instructions
Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams for DFM optimization
Work on industrial automation and machine design projects
Qualifications:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
3-5 years of relevant mechanical design experience
Proficient in SolidWorks (preferably owns license and PC)
Strong knowledge of GD&T, DFM, and tolerance analysis
Experience with machined parts, weldments, and sheet metal
Familiarity with industrial automation systems and components
Hands-on experience in prototype development and testing
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred:
Owns SolidWorks license and capable workstation
