Summary** The Operator 2 Material Control performs various types of material handling work, including moving parts and supplies throughout the plant with forklifts and/or overhead cranes, loading and/or unloading material onto/from truck trailers with forklifts and/or overhead cranes, and performing inventory cycle counts. **Duties and Responsibilities** _To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices._ + Maintains information regarding which parts and supplies go to various production areas and ensures that these areas are fully stocked + Operates forklift and overhead cranes to move material into position to produce railcar parts and sub-assemblies + Ensures that equipment is maintained and operating properly before beginning work + Reads and comprehends blueprints or weld drawings and procedures + Loads and/or unloads materials onto/from truck trailers using forklift and/or overhead cranes + Conducts inventory counts as directed to maintain a correct perpetual inventory count + Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained + Mentors Operator 1, as needed, in various production activities + Conducts cycle counting process, which includes counting material as it comes through and comparing it to what is show in the system. Working with key members of the department as well as corporate to ensure accurate counts. **Qualifications** _The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties._ **Minimum Qualifications** + 1+ years experience operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery + 6+ months experience in cycle counting + Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and work instructions + Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook + Ability to work in a team or independently + Ability to obtain in-house forklift certification + Ability to perform cycle counting proficiently + 1+ years' experience with an Inventory Management System + Possesses experience with kit building procedures **Preferred Qualifications** + High school diploma or equivalency test/GED + 1+ years of experience in operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery **Work Environment and Physical Requirements** **Work Environment** _The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
