We are looking for an OSP (Outside Plant Person) Data Collector & Inspector that is willing to travel to daily appts, but located in the Tacoma/Kent/Puyallup area only at this time.The Field Technician is the first step in the telecommunications engineering process. They are first on the ground taking and recording the measurements needed in the mapping and planning phase of cable and fiber installations for the client. They are also the feet on the ground, inspecting and verifying pole configurations for the pole owners.The Field Tech is expected to perform the position duties in a manner that promotes customer service and professionalism. **Duties: ***Duties of this position are performed with a high degree on independence: the employee is responsible for independent judgements in determining appropriate action based on technical knowledge.*- Duties of this position are performed with a high degree of independence and self-motivation. The employee is responsible for independent judgements in determining appropriate action based on technical knowledge.- Gather information for pole permits and input into database.- Gather & map information for underground and aerial routes.- Follow all company's field procedures and protocols.- Proper use of field equipment such as measuring sticks and laser range finders.- Ability to move over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment.- Maintains all necessary company tools and equipment.- Meets with customers onsite.- Processing of jobs on company laptop remotely and in own home.**Skills:**- Perform duties in a manner which promotes harmonious working relationships (including contacts with the general public), treating all courteously and with respect.- Able to engage in effective team participation and willingness to assist management and assist co-workers.- Ability to read and understand operating manuals, technical drawings and complex schematics.- Proficient use of computerized equipment, including a cellular phone and laptop computer.- Basic knowledge of safety standards, procedures including safety vest and utilize safety eye wear.- Ability to sit for long periods of driving and intermittently walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach while performing duties. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally. Able to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools and controls.- Able to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, writing and operating equipment.- Able to use a cell phone/radio to communicate verbally and a keyboard to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen.****Qualifications:****- **Minimum 2 years** of experience in the telecommunication field to include but not limited to cable/fiber construction, install tech, locating, engineering, surveying...- Have a current driver's license with clean driving record for insurability and able to operate company vehicle in a safe manner while keeping vehicle clean.- High school diploma or GED - Minimum 18 years of age- Telecommunications Systems Engineering experience preferred.- Located in driving distance on the Tacoma/Kent/Puyallup and outlying areas. (Company vehicle provided)**Please note:** Finalists must be willing to complete a math test as part of the interview process, a 5-panel drug screening and a criminal history background check as part of the hiring process. Pay starts @ $22.00 to $26.00 hr DOE
