SARSTEDT, a leading manufacturer and distributor of blood collection and medical devices, laboratory consumables and instrumentation, seeks a Material Handler. Shift : Day Shift Hours: 8am - 5pm Department: Maintenance Summary Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate technicians. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as apparent or required by management. Ensure routine maintenance and preventive maintenance are completed as scheduled Oversee and assign maintenance tasks to maintenance technicians and maintenance electronics technicians in connection with the maintenance manager Supervise facility maintenance activities including preventive maintenance, floor maintenance diagnosis, and repair and emergency maintenance Execute needed work orders for maintenance repairs and monitor maintenance activities with the responsible supervisor and/or manager Track and provide KPI-reports for Maintenance performance. Ensure daily communication with Team and follow up with open work orders Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. Perform general and preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and building Prioritize maintenance work and ensure proper maintenance resource allocation for maintenance downs Assist in training and directing Apprentices to meet production goals and learning objectives. Direct training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise a total of 8-11 employees in the Maintenance department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems and creating training plans. Maintain and track time and attendance for maintenance department in ADP system. Education and/or Experience Associate's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Science from a two-year college or technical school; and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Qualifications Previous supervisory experience required. OSHA Safety training class preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers or employees of the organization. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook,) Spreadsheet software and internal production system (BDE), Webex Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Work Environment While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions; high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
