JOB SUMMARYResponsible for the troubleshooting and periodic maintenance of heavy-duty construction equipment, as well as mechanical and hydraulic attachments. Assist with truck maintenance as required. Also adhere to shop procedures, assist in shop organizations and support. Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul various types of diesel engines and equipment.CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for all phases of heavy construction equipment repair and overhaul. Equipment includes but is not limited to excavators, dozers, rollers, backhoes, and both stationary and towable machines. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on various equipment. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Attach test instruments to equipment and understand reading/output to diagnose malfunctions. Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves. Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors. Inspect, repair and maintain hydraulic systems. Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and differential units. Perform routine maintenance as per SOP which would include but not limited to changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Order tools and machinery inventory parts. Raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks, hoists and others as necessary. Provide overall repair and maintenance for heavy duty diesel trucks to support operations. Includes engine work, transmissions, brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition. Test drive trucks and equipment to diagnose malfunctions and to ensure proper operations. Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs). Complete daily maintenance and repair logs and fleet service logs. Quality workmanship is required. Clean and maintain work area. All other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTSMechanics are expected to have advanced mechanical skills required including diesel engine systems. Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, tools and computers. Work can be physically demanding and involves frequent lifting of materials up to 30 plus pounds as well as frequent stooping, bending, reaching above shoulder, standing, kneeling, crouching and lying down. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye protection, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats when necessary. Mechanics must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol examination. High school diploma or equivalency is required as is authorization to work in US. NY Motor Vehicle Inspector Group 2 Certification and NY DMV Class B drivers license is preferred.Follow link to apply through company website:
