Motor Equipment Operator II

Employees in this class operate and perform routine maintenance on intermediate skill level heavy construction/maintenance equipment including trucks requiring a Commercial Driver's License Class B, used in a municipal highway, landfill, or recycling department. This class does not involve driving a semi-tractor trailer except on a relief or training basis. This class differs from the Motor Equipment Operator I position due to the more complex nature of equipment operated and tasked performed requiring greater skill along with increased responsibility for the safety of others. Work is performed under direct supervision of a higher ranking employee.Good knowledge of the operation of assigned construction and snow removal equipment and other moderately complex equipment; Good knowledge of municipal geography; Ability to service and make simple repairs to assigned equipment; Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; Ability to supervise the work of others on assigned projects; Willingness to respond to emergencies and perform overtime work; Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions; Mechanical aptitude.
