Water Distribution System Operator (Full-time)Location:Fayette Water Works Board Office311 Second AVE SE, Fayette, AL 35555Hours:7am-3:30pm Monday through FridayAfter hours work as neededDescription:This position is responsible for maintaining and operating the distribution system of the Fayette Water Works Board.Qualifications:- High School Diploma required.- Must be 18 years of age and have a valid Alabama Driver License with a satisfactory driving record.- Must have or be able to obtain a minimum Grade 1 Distribution Operator Certification from ADEM within 1 year of hire. Having a Grade 1 or Grade 4 Operators Certification is highly preferred.- Ability to operate heavy equipment (backhoe, mini excavator) highly preferredExamples of Duties:The following is a list of duties representative of the work to be performed in this position. This list does not preclude management from assigning duties as needed that may not be included in this list.- Performs maintenance and repair work on the distribution system.- Must be available for On Call weekends as scheduled.- Identify and use hand tools as needed.- Safely work around heavy machinery. Ability to operate heavy machinery considered a plus.- Manage time well, be highly organized and plan work assignments effectively to maintain a smooth flow of record keeping and information processing.- Use of modern technology, including a personal computer and smart phone.- Establish successful working relationships and work as part of a team.Work Environment:This Operator position is primarily performed in an outdoor setting. This position will occasionally be required to work in unpleasant weather, with impolite customers or social situations (dealing with irate or disturbed individuals.)
