JOB DUTIES
The Aircraft Painter coats surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices, removes old paint from aircraft, using liquid paint remover and scraper. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool, roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface, masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, and paint insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft surface, using stencils.
Prepares aircraft and component assembly surfaces for paint operations by hand and mechanical sanding methods, plastic media blasting (PMB), and other necessary processes.
Sets up, operates, and cleans paint/de-paint and corrosion control equipment and tools.
Prepares, mixes, and applies sealants, aero filler compounds, resins, primers, military NT coatings, and finish top coat paint using a variety of different application techniques.
Fabricates and applies stencil markings to component assembly parts and aircraft using several methods including silk screens and maskant aids per blueprint drawings.
Conducts inspections on aircraft and component assembly surfaces to ensure work completed is done to required standard. Documents any deviations from specifications and performs necessary processes to meet requirements.
Ensures compliance with all relevant rules and regulations concerning health and safety, tool control, contracts, facilities and other pertinent Company policies.
Provides guidance and training to new or lesser skilled paint operation personnel.
Performs other duties as directed by supervision and management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
2+ years' experience in the position responsibilities listed above
Ability to work rotating shift
Experience working from heights and using fall protection equipment.
Ability to complete Fall protection training/respirator and audio
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
2+ years' hands on experience sanding, taping, mixing material, the application of paint
2+ years' experience working on military and commercial platforms
1+ years' experience working with hazardous chemicals
Aircraft painting experience
