Installation Project Manager

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Installation Project Manager to oversee commercial fire alarm system installation projects across the Kansas City metro area. Based out of our Lenexa, KS office, you'll manage all phases of project executionfrom planning to final client handoffwhile leading a team of technicians and ensuring high-quality, code-compliant installations.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management
Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, and schedules.

Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Perform regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues.

Maintain all necessary documentation (contracts, permits, change orders).

May conduct Fire Marshal/AHJ walkthroughs.

Team Leadership
Supervise and mentor field technicians.

Assign tasks and set clear performance expectations.

Hold team meetings and promote a collaborative work culture.

Manage schedules to ensure on-time project delivery.

Engineering & Compliance
Collaborate with engineering teams to review system designs.

Ensure installations comply with drawings and regulations.

Provide technical support during installations and troubleshooting.

Inventory & Equipment
Source and track delivery of project materials.

Monitor equipment warranties and manage returns or replacements.

Quality & Risk Management
Enforce quality control standards in all installations.

Identify and mitigate project risks.

Handle change management and escalate major issues when necessary.

Client Relations
Act as the main point of contact for clients during projects.

Provide consistent updates and manage expectations.

Build and maintain long-term client relationships.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (preferred).

NICET II certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year).

Proven experience in project management within fire protection or construction.

Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, codes, and standards (NFPA, IBC).

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in project management software and tools.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
