Project Manager Engineer
(onsite in Montreal, CA)

What you can expect to be doing:
  • Oversee the integration, design, installation, start-up, qualification, and operational integration of equipment and related systems for capital expansion or technology implementation projects within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with the Project Engineering Manager, process design-engineering firms, equipment vendors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely and effective project execution.
  • Lead and propose innovative, compliant design solutions to meet project requirements.
  • Manage technical personnel and equipment vendors under the scope of assigned responsibilities, ensuring all activities align with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Plan and coordinate logistics, scheduling, and resource allocation for process equipment procurement and commissioning phases.
  • Contribute to process optimization by identifying areas for improving efficiency, sustainability, and waste reduction.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of project budgets and schedules, implementing cost control strategies where applicable.
  • Coordinate and participate in site visits to supplier facilities during equipment design, assembly, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for internal stakeholders, providing guidance on project execution, equipment functionality, and process integration.
  • Ensure that all equipment and processes meet regulatory compliance and internal quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate records of project milestones, documentation, and testing protocols as per cGMP and company standards.
  • Participate in risk assessment activities and support root cause investigations for deviations or non-conformances related to project execution.
  • Participate in the drafting and revision of project-related procedures and protocols.
  • Serve as a technical mentor or resource to team members within the project team or facility engineering department.
  • Carry out any additional tasks as assigned by Management in support of project or operational goals.

What you will bring to the table:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 45 years of relevant work experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • At least 12 years of experience managing technical projects or equipment integration.
  • Masters degree in engineering or MBA is considered an asset.
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical processing technologies in areas such as clean utilities, formulation, aseptic filling (isolator/RABS), and freeze-drying.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools; familiarity with Agile/Scrum is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and engineering design software.
  • Experience using SAP and Microsoft Office suite; data analytics experience is considered a plus.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards in quality and compliance.
  • Bilingual (French & English) preferred; proficiency in English is essential.
