Permanent Position Manufacturing Electrical Technician 54I CSO

Shift: 7 AM - 3:30 PM EST

Site: New Brunswick, NJ

Bldg# 115 (excluded)

Rate: $49.17 / hour

JOB FUNCTION:

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, upgrades and installs all electrical and instrumentation components, equipment and systems related to NBR R&D Manufacturing facilities. Applies knowledge and experience in electrical and instrumentation systems of pharmaceutical related building systems and associated process equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, repairs & maintenance of all types of process equipment (glass lined vessels, dryers (conical & filter), filters, centrifuges), fluid bed processers, high shear granulators, lyophilizers, autoclaves, water for I njection stills, waste neutralization systems pumps, motors, heat exchangers, coils, fans, boilers, chillers, vacuum systems, etc.
  • Maintains knowledge of and compliance to all applicable codes and regulations as required. Obtains and keeps current all required licensing and certifications associated with the job. Plan and layout work details in the assembly, installation, testing, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical apparatus, control equipment and wiring used in industrial light and power distribution systems including equipment such as generating equipment, panels, automatic switches, complex ci rcuit breaking units, transformer units, substations and alarms. Work from and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, sketches, ladder diagrams and verbal instructions.
  • Perform complex electrical construction work and install all types of electrical raceways and bus work performing necessary measuring, cutting, threading, bending and assembling of rigid conduit systems and using necessary tools such as hacksaw, pipe bender, threading tools, etc. Use a large variety of hand and shop power tools.
  • Troubleshoot and correct faulty wiring or electrical difficulties in motors (1/4 to 300 HP), starters, variable frequency drives, MCC panel boards, and other equipment. Use and have understanding of a variety of electrical testing instruments and apparatus.
  • Ability to perform Intricate repair, replacement and adjustment on industrial automation and process control instrumentation and devices. This includes, but is not limited to, indicating, recording, testing and controlling instruments used principally on or in conjunction with manufacturing, development or testing equipment to denote and regulate temperatures, pressures, pH, flows, liquid levels, light source measurement and other similar factors. Replace or service such equipment as transmitters, switches, thermostats, flow meters, thermometers and others based on electronic or pneumatic operating principles. Diagnose instrument troubles utilizing diagnostic equipment, meters and tools to determine whether an instrument is to be repaired, adjusted or returned to the manufacturer.
  • Install or direct the installation of new instruments and check their operation by assisting in full loop check out procedures. Instruct equipment operators in the care and use of the various instruments. Assist in providing substitute equipment while the regular equipment is out of order. Instruct, advise and work with others as required in performing ordinary inspection, repair and service work.
  • Perform other duties of an equal or lesser nature including, but not limited to, the preparation of routine i nspection reports, making simple calculations and handling of related paperwork as required.
  • Possesses experience and training in reactive, preventive and predictive maintenance in the areas of electrical and instrumentation with journeyman status in at least one. Those with Journeyman status shall be considered to retain Journeyman status within their trade
  • Documents clearly, all work performed on the CMMS system work orders. Completes all other work associated with the assignment working cooperatively with other trades.
  • Responsibilities include maintaining documentation in and associated with the CMMS, facilities and equipment under strict compliance to OSHA, GDP, GLP, cGMP, federal, state and local regulations.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 year associate's degree or successful completion of a vocational-tech program directly related to Electrical and/or I nstrument Systems from an accredited technical school/college is preferred.
  • Electrical license preferred.
  • Current, valid driver's license.
  • A minimum of 4 years direct experience performing the functions within the Classification Description above working in a heavily regulated environment (e.g. OSHA, PSM, cGMP) with a strict adherence to established safety and GMP rules and regulations including management of change and mechanical i ntegrity procedures is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with process control and Safety I nstrumented Systems including Emerson DeltaV and various PLC platforms is preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience working in hazardous locations with equipment and wiring methods including explosion proof installations, purged enclosures, seals, electrically rated system components and intrinsically safe wiring as defined by Article 500 of the National Electrical Code and arc flash boundaries related to NFPA ?OE.
  • Knowledge of and experience with i ndustrial digital communication protocols including Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, Modbus, ASi and Ethernet l/P.
  • Journeyman papers AND 4 years of electrical experience In pharmaceutical glass/pilot plants and/or clinical supply facilities associated with the development, manufacture and delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients, drug product intermediates, and drug products OR a minimum of 6 years of documented, equivalent experience in pharmaceutical glass/pilot plants and/or clinical supply facilities associated with the development, manufacturer and delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients, drug product intermediates, and drug product. Comparable experience in bulk fine chemicals or petrochemical organic chemical processing in a manufacturing and/or research and development environment will be considered.
  • Must have basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, email, internet)
  • Knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), i.e.: Maximo is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot, plan work and anticipate potential problems and take appropriate actions.
