Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Description
Assist in structural analysis and design for transportation infrastructure projects. Prepare plans, specifications, quantity calculations, and cost estimates for various projects. Conduct bridge inspections and develop Bridge Condition Reports to assess structural integrity. Utilize industry-standard software for structural analysis, design, and plan preparation. Support constructability reviews and value engineering efforts to optimize designs. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors in a multidisciplinary environment. Ensure high-quality project documentation, reports, and technical files. Assist the project engineer in overcoming challenges to meet client project delivery goals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct structural analysis and design for transportation infrastructure projects.
- Prepare detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various projects.
- Perform bridge inspections and develop comprehensive Bridge Condition Reports.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation for structural analysis and design.
- Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering efforts.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of project documentation and technical reports.
- Assist project engineers in meeting client delivery goals.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- 2-5 years of experience in a consulting engineering firm focused on structural work.
- Experience in bridge design and construction.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois or ability to acquire licensure.
- Strong communication skills for client interactions and coordination with municipal agencies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Desire to become a Licensed Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois.
- Experience with IDOT funded projects.
Work Environment
The company offers a hybrid work model, initially requiring new hires to work 3 days per week in the office. Experienced staff can enjoy 2-3 remote workdays per week. The offices are located in Warrenville, IL, and Champaign, IL. The organization has a flat structure, with 7-8 shareholder/principals leading market sectors and mentoring junior staff. The structural team consists of 7 individuals, with five in Warrenville and two in Champaign.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
