Assistant Project Manager
Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will assist project managers on a variety of projects of varying complexity and manage smaller, less complex projects independently. This role involves coordinating and acting as a liaison among clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. The APM will manage transmission and distribution projects, ensuring effective communication, deadline management, and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain document control, manage databases, and coordinate and track project activities and communications to ensure project goals are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and budget.
  • Assist global practice and engineering disciplines with overall efforts for Design-only and/or EPC projects.
  • Assist the Project Management team in administering request for proposal (RFP) package development, bid and selection processes, and developing detailed scope of work documents for downstream contracts.
  • Manage contractors' submittals, requests for information, supplemental design instructions, and site drawing logs.
  • Verify contractor compliance, including quality, safety, environmental, and material management programs.
  • Execute contracts, including change order management, field change directives, approval of invoices, and management of schedules.
  • Assist with project controls efforts, including project cost reporting, scheduling, project work breakdown structure establishment, project setup and closeout within the accounting system, and field progress tracking.
  • Develop internal and external reports, including project budgeting, cost reports, project cash flow forecasts, and project status reports to all stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal and external project risk reviews and consult with the Legal Department as required.
  • Close out contract and project documentation.
  • Adhere to safety programs, trainings, and policies, promoting and managing the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of recent experience in assistant project management or project management on projects in the range of $1M or more, not exceeding 5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Primavera P6 for scheduling.
  • Experience in electrical, transmission, and distribution projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program with 5 years of applicable experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment and work overtime on short notice.
  • High proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives.
  • Experience with change management software is preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
