This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Companys locations: Troubadour Golf & Field Club, set outside of Nashville, Tennessee.Troubadour Golf & Field Club is seeking a Carpenter to join the Facilities Maintenace department.
As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of wood, plywood, and other materials. Your role will involve interpreting blueprints, specifications, and project plans to determine the scope of work, selecting appropriate materials, and using hand and power tools to perform carpentry tasks. You will play a key role in various construction projects, contributing to the creation of functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Carpentry Work:
o Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand project requirements, dimensions, and materials needed for carpentry work.
o Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, plywood, and other materials to construct structures, such as walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, and cabinetry, according to project plans and specifications.
o Install structural components, including framing, trusses, joists, and beams, ensuring alignment, levelness, and structural integrity of the building framework.
Finish Carpentry:
o Perform finish carpentry tasks, such as installing trim, molding, baseboards, casings, and decorative elements, to enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of interior spaces.
o Hang doors, install windows, and fit hardware, including handles, locks, hinges, and latches, ensuring proper operation and alignment with architectural design requirements.
o Construct and install built-in furniture, shelving units, and storage systems, customizing designs to maximize space utilization and meet client preferences.
Renovation and Repair:
o Repair and renovate existing structures, including damaged or deteriorated woodwork, siding, roofing, and flooring, using appropriate materials and techniques to restore functionality and appearance.
o Replace or repair structural components, such as beams, columns, and support systems, to address structural deficiencies or code violations and ensure building safety and stability.
o Identify and troubleshoot issues related to structural integrity, moisture damage, termite infestation, and other factors affecting the condition of wood and wood-based materials.
Safety and Compliance:
o Adhere to safety regulations, procedures, and best practices in carpentry work, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of tools and equipment, and proper disposal of waste materials.
o Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including work areas, tools, and equipment, to minimize hazards and ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
o Comply with building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards governing carpentry work, ensuring that construction projects meet regulatory requirements and quality standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with project managers, contractors, architects, and other tradespeople to coordinate carpentry work with other construction activities and ensure timely completion of projects.
o Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients to discuss project requirements, progress updates, and any issues or challenges encountered during construction.
o Provide input and recommendations on design modifications, material selections, and construction methods to optimize project outcomes and meet client expectations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry is preferred.
Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a carpenter in the construction industry, with proficiency in carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
Strong knowledge of construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications, with the ability to interpret and apply technical information to carpentry tasks.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery, including saws, drills, routers, and sanders, to perform carpentry work accurately and efficiently.
Attention to detail, precision, and craftsmanship in executing carpentry tasks, with a focus on quality and accuracy in measurements, cuts, and installations.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions and environments.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and adapt to changing project requirements.

Must be able to work flexible work hours as needed due to business demands.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
