Job Summary

As a Project Manager and Mechanical Engineer, this position is responsible for the overall execution and supervision of engineering projects including client management and conformance to contract obligations while ensuring projects are delivered on time within the stipulated scope and budget. This position also prepares and directs the preparation of engineering evaluations and design documents, applying advanced knowledge of engineering and construction materials, working with and directing engineering teams in the completion of projects in a design and quality control capacity. This position works under general oversight by the Department Manager and Principal(s) in Charge.

Key Responsibilities: (not a comprehensive list)

  • Project Manager
    • Team management as team leader and primary decision maker, assigning tasks, and providing guidance with a clear understanding of the project scope and a vision for the end deliverables, to internal and external team members.
    • Participates in preparing technical fee proposals, subcontractor scopes of work, and proposal execution plans.
    • Prepares and reviews contractual agreements with clients and subconsultants.
    • Prepares the project budget based on the contract, scope of work, and resource requirements.
    • Predicts resource needs to reach objectives and coordinates resources in an effective manner.
    • Schedules, prepares and leads meetings with the project team, subcontractors and clients.
    • Measures and tracks project performance on a regular basis, providing regular updates related to deadlines, resources, hours and budget.
  • Lead Engineer
    • Acts as the lead Engineer/Designer of Record (EOR/DOR) in the production of engineering plans, written technical specifications, engineering calculations, and cost estimates. Delegates tasks to other engineers, drafters, and/or engineering teams. Checks and reviews individual assignments and develops designs to maintain technical quality and accuracy of work.
    • Directs and/or performs project site inspections and data collection, including periodic travel to project locations, domestic and international.
    • Develops and/or reviews the development of company spreadsheets and computer models.
    • Directs computer-aided design (CAD) drawing work by others while developing plan documents applying standard techniques and procedures.
    • Pursues and maintains technical certifications and capabilities related to company and department business lines, learning and staying current with industry codes and standards.
