Job Title: Safety Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to oversee construction safety across multiple project sites within the Valley Region and district-wide. This role involves ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and other safety regulations, providing management oversight, and monitoring contractor safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform management oversight of construction activities and report on contractor safety compliance.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA requirements specific to construction projects.
  • Conduct daily safety reviews of ongoing work in line with Safety Regulations and SOPs.
  • Ensure adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements.
  • Support the Program Safety Manager by attending meetings and providing safety reports and analysis.
  • Lead safety discussions during construction meetings with project teams and contractors.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and generate daily safety reports for all site visits.
  • Submit weekly Project Health, Safety, and Environmental Observation Reports.
  • Review contractor safety submittals and plans for completion and accuracy.
  • Participate in safety stand-downs and prepare lessons learned for the Program Safety Manager.
  • Conduct safety orientations with contractor safety representatives.
  • Monitor adherence to the zero-tolerance safety policy and implement corrective actions.
  • Work flexibly across multiple sites in the greater Los Angeles area.
  • Establish daily work priorities and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects.

Essential Skills

  • 10 years of commercial construction experience in the US with a General Contractor.
  • 5 years of experience with a Contractor or major subcontractor in California.
  • 2 years of experience in construction of educational projects on campuses.
  • Experience managing field construction teams on multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in safety management and reporting for construction projects.
  • Valid Safety Management Specialist (SMS) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with demolition, renovation, and new construction building projects.
  • Experience working on OCIP programs.
  • Experience in modernization/renovation projects involving hazardous materials.
  • Experience working with senior management on large building programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other basic software programs.

Work Environment

The role requires flexibility in schedule and the ability to work across multiple construction sites in the greater Los Angeles area. The candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
