The Project Manager, will report to the CFS Director of Operations and will be responsible for assigned aspects of engineering, procurement and construction delivery within the assigned program. This role will require close stakeholder management of suppliers, partners and client, as well as leadership of project team members. The PM is expected to have significant experience in project delivery and project execution methodology including an understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, nuclear supply chain, contract management and project controls principles. Leading integrated teams is an equally important skill; developing and building a large team of professionals is a requirement of this role.
Projects managed by Candu Field Services are often short cycle usually lasting approximately 12 months and most usually have absolute and immovable project milestones for the site outage start and end dates; maintaining the customer outage schedule is paramount. The Project Manager will be expected to manage several projects concurrently, often with different customers, and to manage the assigned resources across the different projects.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience conducting field work at an operating CANDU nuclear plant and experience planning and executing work in concert with customers Radiation Protection and Work Management programs. The ideal candidate also has a deep understanding of the nuclear culture including effective use of human performance tools, and demonstrated knowledge of best practices in Foreign Material Exclusion, as well as experience with performing and leading field work conducted at an operating nuclear site.
Your role within the team:
- Project Planning and Scope Definition: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Define the project scope and deliverables in compliance with contract documents and client requirements.
- Team Leadership and Coordination: Assemble and lead a multidisciplinary project team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among technicians, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- People Management: Maintain supervisory org. and mange career development of assigned project resources to the betterment of the individuals, the project and the business. Assemble a project team through recruiting, interviewing and/or selecting staff with appropriate skills and establishing training and development programs suitable for the work. This generally requires close coordination with functional managers from various functions (engineering, project controls, safety, quality etc.). Make effective decisions / recommendations on human resource issues, work closely with Labour Relations as required to effectively resolve work performance issues within the project. Be present in the lab and in the field and lead the team.
- Contract and Risk Management: Manage all aspects of contract administration, including scope and change control, subcontractor and supplier management, and risk management. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and governance. Accountable for rigorous risk analysis in accordance with corporate standards and application of industry best practice including Montecarlo methodology and contingency draw-down curves.
- Safety and Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to safety standards and quality requirements. Develop and enforce safety programs, training, and corrective action plans to maintain high performance standards.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Apply key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project health and performance. Establish rigorous reporting protocols to meet contract, corporate, and project-specific oversight requirements.
- Procurement and Supply Chain Management: Responsible for all contract management including scope & change control, requirements management, subcontractor and supplier management and governance for any flow-down requirements from the parent contract to subs and vendors.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure effective communication and coordination to keep all parties informed and aligned with project goals. Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Ethical and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with corporate standards of ethical conduct, cyber-security, import-export regulations, intellectual property protections, and security clearance protocols.
- Nuclear Safety: Accountable for all aspects of nuclear and industrial safety including adherence with corporate and customer safety programs, development and enforcement of necessary training and requirements, adherence to corrective action programs and enforcement of performance standards for all of the above.
- These responsibilities ensure that the Project Manager maintains high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the process.

- Educational Background: CET, B.Tech, BSc in Engineering or equivalent is an asset.
- Certifications: PMP certification is an asset.
- Project Experience: 5+ years of experience leading or supporting projects in construction, manufacturing, or engineering services.

- Project Delivery: Understanding of project delivery methodology, including earned value, critical path scheduling, prime contract and subcontract management, procurement and supply chain methodology, and inspection and test plans.
- Safety Knowledge: Working knowledge of industrial safety and nuclear safety culture.
- Nuclear Experience: A balance of knowledge and experience with the application FME program rules, Human Performance for both knowledge work and field work, of personnel deployment for executing work with the support of RP/HP oversight including Dose Management, and knowledge of a typical nuclear customers work management processes, including both work assessing, scheduling and reporting.

- The department is based out of Sheridan Park in Mississauga. Candidates located in Bruce County will also be considered.
- Occasional site travel is required, both for routine visits during site execution phases of work, and potentially site deployment opportunities of 1-4 weeks duration depending on customer and projects.
