Welder Job Description We are currently seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our Steel and Irrigation Operations division as welders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for welding metal components together to fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders using a variety of arc and gas welding equipment. Responsibilities Fuse or weld metal structural components together using arc welding in the fabrication of steel electrical poles, substations, and other structures. Perform welding operations with minimal planning, based on blueprints or other written specifications, and determine the operation sequence. Utilize all safety devices and wear mandatory personal protective safety equipment. Adjust welding equipment to prescribed settings. Maintain and operate production tooling and fixtures, as well as all welding equipment, safely and securely. Read and complete labor reporting systems, standard shop forms, and blueprints. Perform minor welding machine maintenance, including tips, liners, and gas cups. Use labor reporting systems and routing shop forms, and fill out move tags. Essential Skills At least 1 year of production welding experience. Ability to accurately read a measuring tape. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to communicate and interact positively with coworkers. Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to pass an onsite welding assessment. Ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required for business needs. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification from a recognized school. Six months of previous hands-on welding experience in a professional environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints without assistance. High awareness of safety at all times. Ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems to departmental supervision. Passion, integrity, and drive to excel and deliver exceptional results. Technical welding degree from a trade school is a plus. Pulse welding, Mig, and Flex core experience. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is heavily industrial, requiring jeans, steel-toed boots with metatarsal cover, and a shirt. The campus is very large, necessitating travel between buildings, and can be noisy and dirty at times. Candidates should be prepared to lift 50lbs consistently and must be safety-focused. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valley, Nebraska. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
