OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will work with the process engineering team to make improvements to existing workflows, equipment and will contribute to the design of any new line additions or facilities. As a key member of the Process Engineering Department, the Sr. Mechanical Engineer will have the opportunity to provide their expertise to a dynamic and growing organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research and develop improvements to existing equipment and processes
Design systems to integrate equipment to process requirements
Develop the heat and material balance or process flow diagrams
Lead the development of piping and instrumentation diagrams, piping material specifications, piping isometric diagrams and equipment data sheets
Generate fabrication, construction work packages and procurement technical specifications.
Perform piping hydraulics calculations, size of related equipment including control valves, pressure valves, heat exchangers, pumps, boilers, ammonia chillers, wastewater treatment plants, and compressors.
Review and approve mechanical deliverables, including drawings, calculations, technical bids, Request for Information,(RFI's) and Proposals (RFP's).
Knowledge of mechanical design software including ASPEN, PIPE-FLO, and ANSYS.
Lead the mechanical engineering portion of any capital project from feasibility through execution
Coordinate with engineering team members and subcontractors to ensure high quality and timely work completion.
Develop drawings and parts lists for equipment built or modified by Home Market Foods
Gather quotes from venders and contractors and make accompanying recommendations
Promote the use of Manufacturing Execution Systems, MES in the Process Engineering
Assist in the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies
Additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Minimum of 5 - 10 years of mechanical engineering experience in the manufacturing industry required
Proven experience working with design codes and standards such as PIP and ASME
