T his position will Perform a wide range of operations to maintain buildings, machines and service equipment.
This position is 2pm-10pm Monday thru Friday, but will train on the first shift.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment for all employees and customers complying with organizational and OSHA safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
- Work on a variety of plumbing, pipe fitting, carpentry, drywall, welding, brazing, mechanical, electrical, and other plant maintenance projects as needed.
- Work in Parts department as required: looking up parts, ordering, maintaining parts computer system and inventory.
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on productions equipment; respond to mechanical failures.
- Diagnosis the source of problems by observing, listening, and using precision measuring and test instruments.
- Manage downtime by communicating with production supervisors and employees of routine preventive maintenance needs.
- Work from samples, parts, diagrams, sketches, and layout drawings, written and verbal instructions.
- Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, slide calipers, indicators, and scales. Work with both Metric and American Standards as they apply.
- Operate and maintain a license for various types of material handling equipment such as power hand trucks and fork trucks.
- Diagnose machine or equipment trouble and determine the extent of repair necessary: replace worn, defective or broken parts as needed.
- Maintain a variety of building, machine and service equipment including compressors, air dryers, pumps, vacuum systems, balers, paper waste handling systems, outside lawn sprinkler system, etc.
- Assist with the lubrication of plant equipment following established preventative maintenance programs.
- Unload, assemble and install various types of machines and equipment. Move and install machines and other plant equipment: Install various attachments and accessories such as pumps, tanks, guards, electrical motors, and control panels.
- Make necessary hydraulic, air, vacuum, or other connections.
- Receive bulk delivery of adhesive as needed; ensure connections to storage tanks are correct. Rinse out pumps and hoses with water when finished.
- Keep and maintain records as required. Detect and report defective equipment and materials as well as questionable situations to supervisor.
- Observe and follow all Safety rules and practices using all required PPE.
- Keep and maintain equipment (machine shop work area) in a neat and orderly manner.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform general custodial duties as requested.
- Performs other duties as required.

- Education and Experience:
- Vocational or technical high school diploma, 2-4 years to training (OTJ or with experienced workers)
- Certification in plumbing, electrical and/or carpentry preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- The employee will regularly Stand; Walk; Talk; using hands to finger dexterity. Occasionally reaches, stoops, kneels, crouches.
- Frequently lifts or moves up to 50 pounds; occasionally moves items over 100 pounds (with mechanical assistance)
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision; Distance vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception; Ability to adjust focus.
- Typical manufacturing environment includes prolonged exposure to loud machine & noises, temperature varies, continuously working around machinery with fast, moving parts. Extreme cold (non-weather); Extreme heat (non-weather); Risk of electrical shock; the employee is regularly Work near moving mechanical parts; Work in high, precarious places. The entire plant area is built on concrete floors.
