Job Summary

Shambaugh & Son is seeking a Project General Trades Superintendent candidates for construction projects in various parts of the United States, with an initial assignment located in Twin Falls, ID for approximately 12 months.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work Planning: Plan and prioritize subcontracted scopes to achieve high-quality, timely results. Dependable and punctual for all work-related commitments.
  • Relationships: Earn respect through construction knowledge and positive problem solving. Develop productive relationships with other members of the Shambaugh project team, subcontractors, engineers, designers, consultants and client.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, including excellent ability to proactively identify and understand needs of the project team, including subcontractors, and to participate in collaborative problem solving.
  • Detail Orientation: Work with Building Construction Design Team and A/E consultants to ensure accuracy of project documentation (i.e. drawings, details, specifications, etc.) and installations comply with design intent and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrate positive attitude and professional demeanor and perform well under project constraints and deadlines.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of email and Microsoft Office applications. Ability and willingness to learn new to use new electronic tools (i.e. Navisworks, Bluebeam, Procore, etc.).
  • Math Skills: Numerical and analytical skills related to dimension and layout, elevations, and production rates, and ability to apply these skills to achieve project quality and ensure subcontractors are adequately staffing projects to achieve deadlines.
  • Learning Orientation: Participate in related educational and training for job performance improvements
  • Other tasks as directed.

Qualifications

  • Five to ten years of industrial construction experience as a foreman or superintendent, facilitating weekly safety/coordination meetings and look-ahead schedules, documenting daily progress and demonstrating professionalism and integrity, and providing professional references to substantiate experience.
  • Concrete and steel construction experience are preferred
  • Experience on five to ten large food processing projects ranging from $5-100 million.
  • Experience on five or more projects constructing or containing large (10,000 to 50,000 SF) cooler and/or freezer spaces.
  • Ability to supervise daily construction activities of general trades subcontractors on the jobsite, ensuring work is performed in a safe and organized manner, on schedule and on budget.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with the Shambaugh team, A/E consultants, Owner, subcontractors and Local Permit Authorities.
  • Successful completion of classes or other training in construction management, project management, safety, communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in developing project schedules for general trades scopes, coordinating with the full range of trade divisions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and be assigned to projects in locations around the United States for extended periods of time.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
