Position Overview: The General /Area Superintendent is responsible for the daily field construction of the project, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, schedules and cost estimates by overseeing all field activities and providing direction to field construction professional and technical personnel and subcontractors.

Essential Duties:

• May act as Construction Manager
• Supervises and directs the daily efforts of the physical construction, coordinating the efforts of Discipline Superintendents, sub-contractors and other construction professional and technical personnel.
• Approve or authorize the coordination of craft personnel, material and equipment needed to meet schedules
• Directly support project and construction management with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for all construction activities
• Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options. Recommend/ Implement appropriate course of action
• Assures all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is compliant with all pertinent requirements
• Provides an environment for the development and advancement of project personnel, including providing on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities
• Certification, training, experience and technical knowledge appropriate for assignment scope.
• Work within company policies (including Safety and Human Resources policies), client policy and OSHA safety requirements.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of local, state and federal statutes and guidelines
• Miscellaneous duties as directed

Qualifications:

• 15 years construction experience, with a minimum of 8 years in supervisory role
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other technical field is preferred
• Completion of Safety related certifications such as OSHA 10 or Safety council programs as required by company and/or client.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be computer literate and able to utilize Microsoft Office applications
• Attention to detail and accuracy are essential
• Travel is required

Physical/Site Requirements:

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
