At Communications Construction Group , as a Directional Drill Operator , you’ll safely and effectively run Directional Drills as well as a variety of other equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance of underground construction and telecommunication utilities.

Compensation: $30-$45 hourly

What you’ll do as a Directional Drill Operator / Locator

  • Safely operate drill equipment on jobsite which may include but not limited to the following: Direction Drill, Backhoe/Excavator, Skid Steer, Tracctor Trailer (Moving Equipment/Haul Water), Vacuum Truck/Trailer, Locator
  • Restore and /or landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite
  • Develop and maintain a bore schedule
  • Site set-up and clean-up
  • Load and unload tools, materials and equipment on truck
  • Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction
  • Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic

What you’ll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Must possess a valid drivers license - Class A CDL - Tanker endorsements strongly preferred
  • Must be experienced with Directional Drill equipment and understand their capabilities and limitations
  • Must be safety conscious
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with crew, customers and vendors
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules and operating instructions
  • Must be able to proficiently use locators to safely identify utilities

Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: lift 50lbs and work in all weather conditions.
  • Occasionally: lift 75lbs as needed with or without assistance
