Overview
The Facility Maintenance Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) Technician II provides routine maintenance of the entire facility. They can apply troubleshooting skills and experience to resolve technical, mechanical, and electrical problems consisting of HVAC, compressors, vacuum pumps, plumbing, carpentry, and lighting. This incumbent may also assist in grounds Maintenance duties when required.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with Supervisor and Unit Specialists to perform electrical and mechanical repairs. Works independently with limited support and guidance from leaders and others.
- Troubleshoots electrical components up to 480V using knowledge of electronic instrumentation such as multi meters, amp probes, circuit tracers, and meg -ohm meters..
- Uses fabrication skills to assist in department projects as assigned.
- Collaborates with and sometimes leads maintenance projects to improve company needs.
- Actively engages and participates in the department's continuous improvement efforts. Demonstrates behaviors and attitudes that emphasize and focus on permanent resolutions to problems.
- Maintains maintenance records in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and orders preventive maintenance supplies as needed.
- Actively cross-trains on various types of equipment to act as a backup in the absence of more experienced Facility LME Techs.
- Performs basic preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment throughout the facility.
- Follows and adheres to all ISO, OSHA, and DEQ requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to fulfill the minimum qualifications of an Facility LME Technician I-Apprentice.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical/electrical repair practices. Broad understanding of troubleshooting techniques with mechanical, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.
- Understands control systems, i.e., electrical schematics, interpret equipment user manuals, PLCs, relay logic, etc.
- Understanding of National Electric Code (NEC) and Oregon Electric Code.
- Working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn new computer programs, such as a CMMS program.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and troubleshoot problems when necessary. Must also be able to interpret equipment user manuals used in this position.
- Ability to use hand and power tools properly and safely.
Education and Experience
- Generally, requires 5-7 years of facility maintenance experience. Demonstrated experience with electrical work, carpentry, plumbing, and general fabrication. All complying with building and electrical codes.
- Maintains a current Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) license or equivalent.
- Must either hold HazMat certification or become certified within the first year of employment. All required licensure must be maintained and kept up to date.
- Must possess or obtain a Medical First Aid card and Hazmat Certification within the first 12 months of employment. All required licenses must be maintained and be kept up to date.
- Must have a valid insurable driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
