Primary Function: The General Superintendent will oversee all phases of a construction project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the Assign and essential functions.)
- Develops a schedule and cost-effective plan for completion of an assigned project.
- Collaborates with other staff to create preconstruction estimates and budgets for materials, equipment and labor.
- Coordinates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, sub-contractors, and laborers, communicating to and via project foreperson to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.
- Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and architects; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
- Collaborates with architect, engineer, and other pertinent stakeholders to ensure specifications, and other regulations are met.
- Validates required permits and licenses are in place; executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
- Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates variances as they occur.
- Maintains records related to costs and inventory.
- Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies.
- Collaborates with all stakeholders to answer questions and clarify procedures.
- Travels to various job sites
- Attends face-to-face meetings with clients, project progress meetings and internal departmental meetings
- Daily use of computer software including email, data entry; spreadsheets and word processing
- Accountable for technical training and mentoring supervisors to ensure each supervisor is managing consistently.
- Regularly perform safety audit reviews.
- Verify and validate that the marshaller is procuring per the schedule and then validate the field personnel are installing per plan and spec.
- Monitor productivity to ensure efficient resource utilization and make adjustments and procedural changes as required.
- Consistent regular on-site attendance is a requirement of the job

Qualifications:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles.
- Extremely detail-oriented.
- Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
- Thorough understanding of legal requirements relating to construction and building sites.
- Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
- Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.
- Ability to efficiently use computer software that includes email, spreadsheets, work processing and data entry
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- At least four years of experience in building trade required.

Work Environment:
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at office and construction job sites.
- Must use safety equipment (PPE) where warranted. The noise level in the office is quiet and at job sites it is usually loud.
