Primary Function: Working from blueprints or instructions from supervisors, layout, measuring, marking, and arranging materials in accordance with local building codes.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Measures, marks, and arranges materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Cuts and shapes structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
- Uses various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
- Joins materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
- Ensures the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.
- Creates wooden forms for pouring concrete, strikes and finishes concrete, run concrete machine
- May erect and dismantle scaffolding
- Installs doors and hardware, siding, trim and suspended ceilings.
- Adheres to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
- Operates equipment such as SkyTrak and Bobcat.
- Assists in training Apprentice level employees
- Follows all safety requirements
- Consistent on-site attendance is a requirement of the job. Requires some travel within the State of Michigan.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
- Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
- Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
- Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
- Works well as part of a team.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; OR at least four years of experience via on-the-job training required.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints using English language
- Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to work as a team to complete projects
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
- Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
- Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Subject to variable weather conditions inside and outside of buildings
- Ability to work at various heights that can be several floors high
Work Environment:
- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at office and construction job sites.
- Must use safety equipment (PPE) where warranted. The noise level in the work environment and job sites is usually loud.
