Responsibilities
Summary: We are proud to announce the establishment of a state-of-the-art Li-ion battery factory, set amidst the beautiful Kansas City Metro. This groundbreaking green-field factory will serve as a pioneering hub for innovation in sustainable energy solutions.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory located in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas.
Job Summary: The Senior Civil Engineer will support the EPC team across all phases of project design, offering technical expertise in site development and infrastructure planning. This position requires a strong background in engineering design, project management, and mentorship of junior staff. The role involves collaborating with internal teams and clients, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. The ideal candidate brings leadership, innovation, and a deep understanding of civil engineering practices to drive successful project outcomes.
Essential Duties:
Engineering Design & Technical Support
- Prepare technical documentation including design criteria, memorandums, reports, detailed design packages, and cost estimates
- Design site layouts, grading, paving, striping, and underground utility distribution drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Apply creative problem-solving skills to develop non-standard design solutions
- Conduct field reconnaissance for existing site conditions (brownfield and greenfield developments)
- Support relevant storm water permits
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines
Project Management
- Develop and manage project scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety goals
- Participate in project planning meetings and cross-functional design reviews
- Coordinate with clients and internal teams to align expectations and deliverables
- Assist auditors with inquiries and project documentation
Technical Leadership & Quality Control
- Provide strategic and planning services to clients
- Direct and review work completed by junior engineers
- Deliver internal training and mentorship to team members
- Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews
- Collaborate with supervisors to address complex design challenges
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Establish and maintain client relationships
- Participate in marketing efforts, contractual discussions, and design meetings
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees,' wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Technology
- Preferred: Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
Essential Qualifications
- 7+ years of civil engineering experience, ideally in site development and infrastructure design
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including Plan and Profile development, pipe networks, pressure networks, grading functions, and surface modeling
- Practical field experience in active construction environments
- Proficiency in basic surveying techniques (setting control points, collecting data via total stations, GPS, etc.)
- Experience managing or assisting with construction oversight and a strong understanding of construction methods and procedures
- Familiarity with civil engineering standards, codes, and best practices
- Proven project management or assistant project management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client, regulator, and team interaction
- High attention to detail, with strong organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of professional experience in civil engineering
- Prior experience working with engineering or environmental consulting firms
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations applicable to site development and permitting

Required License(s):
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (State of Kansas preferred)
Preferred Certification(s):
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
- AutoCAD Civil 3D Certification
