Welder and Fitter Job Description We are seeking a skilled Welder and Fitter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for welding components in various positions, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications. You will play a crucial role in monitoring processes to prevent defects and maintaining safety standards. Responsibilities Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Move pieces into position manually or using hoists or cranes. Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating or warping. Examine work for defects and ensure it conforms to specifications. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the industry. Operate equipment safely and maintain safe work habits. Clean and maintain work areas to eliminate possible hazards. Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules. Verify work conforms to specifications using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes. Lay out and examine metal stock or pieces to ensure specifications are met. Locate and mark work pieces, bending and cutting lines. Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, and bolt straps for welding. Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, and bolt component parts for welding. Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors. The shift is from 5:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime on Fridays. Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 80 lbs.
