Commercial Electrician Job Description A Licensed or Non-Licensed Electrician is responsible for installing basic electrical equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Responsibilities Pull wire and assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment. Install and mount electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components. Perform interlock wiring as required and test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices. Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Read contract drawings and troubleshoot EMS systems, smart breakers, and relays. Essential Skills Experience with electrical, conduit, wiring, construction, conduit bending, pulling wire, bending conduit, electrical wiring, and fire alarm installation. Must have 4-5+ years of commercial experience. Journeyman License is preferred, but not required. Work Environment This position is physically demanding and often requires working outdoors while exposed to all types of weather conditions. It involves working at heights, in areas under construction, or in restricted spaces like switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, or attics. The role requires working onsite at a data center Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 5 pm, with 50-60 hour work weeks.
