Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our dynamic team. This role involves operating and handling various machines such as drill presses, shear presses, punch presses, straightening presses, torches, overhead cranes, forklifts, CombiLift, and saws. You will be responsible for loading and unloading machines, monitoring machine operations, and maintaining a clean work environment. Responsibilities Operate and handle various machines including drill presses, shear presses, punch presses, and straightening presses. Utilize torches, overhead cranes, forklifts, CombiLift, and saws efficiently. Load and unload machines while ensuring the products make it through the process seamlessly. Monitor machine operations to ensure optimal performance. Clean quench tanks and maintain a clean and organized work area. Perform housekeeping and special clean-up duties as assigned. Use hand and power tools effectively. Lift and move products using an overhead crane. Essential Skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Capability to stand for 8 hours or more. Ability to follow directions accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in machine operating and metals manufacturing/fabrication. Proficiency in operating overhead cranes. Work Environment Work in a large facility with over 10 buildings, surrounded by heat-treating machines, heavy CNC machinery, forklifts, and cranes. The environment can get hot during the summer due to production heat, but the facility is equipped with large garage doors for ventilation and provides free Gatorade. Enjoy working in shifts with differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts: 1st shift (8AM-4PM), 2nd shift (4PM-12AM) with a $1.00 differential, and 3rd shift (12AM-8AM) with a $2.00 differential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crystal Lake, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.51 - $19.51/hr.
