MUST RESIDE IN NJ!!**** Outreach Professional Job Title: Outreach Professional Reports To: Outreach Manager Location: New Jersey Typical Time in Position: 1+ Years Primary Purpose This position is responsible for outreach and education activities to promote the energy efficiency program directed at end customers, contractors, manufacturers, distributors, engineers, architects and others who provide energy efficiency equipment or services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Majority of duties and expectations, but not to be all-inclusive or to prevent other duties from being assigned Recruit contractors/engineering firms/consultants/distributors as trade allies within the C&I Programs Foster relationships with trade allies to maximize the number and size of their submitted projects Develop projects directly with PSEG customers Keep PSEG's BCS Representatives informed on projects with BCS customers Field industry events on behalf of TRC/PSEG Oversee projects submitted by their customers/trade allies Work with an assigned Project Coordinator to help gather required information/documentation to close out a project Make minor adjustments to workbooks based on scope changes or inspections. Major changes are made by engineers Place outbound calls to new and existing customers to meet assigned energy saving targets Manage field time effectively with customer or Trade Ally visits Develop and deliver program presentations to spur project activity Respond to customer inquiries and concerns by phone, electronically or in person to move projects towards completion Work with building owners, property managers and / or facility engineers to provide energy efficiency advice and assistance in participating in energy efficiency programs Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program's strategic direction regarding energy efficiency and the business activities of its customers Identify and provide documentation of on-site opportunities for energy efficiency and provide follow-up to customers as required Discuss technical elements of energy consuming equipment-i.e., lighting, HVAC, hot water systems Enter data into spreadsheets and databases to determine energy savings and to manage current projects which may also include collaborating with Energy Engineers as required Maintain professional appearance appropriate for a representative of our organization and the utility Build quick rapport with customers or trade allies. Quickly initiate conversations with customers on site regarding energy usage at the facility When required, provide written summary reports directly to the customer, and summary reports to the client/Program Manager Be able to work in a team atmosphere, and willing to collaborate on continuous improvement of operations year after year JOB REQUIREMENTS (Experience, credentials, education, knowledge, skills & abilities required for competent performance in the job) Essential Requirements: B.A. or B.S. in Business or Technical field or 5+ years' experience in sales, account management, or similar 1+ years' experience working with energy efficiency or energy efficient products with a utility, government, non-profit or public agency Ability to decipher technical jargon and effectively communicate those terms to individuals of varying skill levels Ability to handle a high volume of clients and suppliers Highly-polished communication skills-written and oral Ability to transition quickly between tasks Solid problem-solving capabilities Creativity and attention to detail Team player with positive attitude and ability to work effectively with different teams Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, occasional overnight Valid driver's license We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening Preferred Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or equivalent Certified Energy Auditor (Commercial) designation Experience in Commercial or Industrial energy efficiency, technical sales, B2B, or construction industry sales PHYSICAL ABILITIES Personal Skills: Ability to travel minimum of 25% - 75% of the time Site visits will require physical activity for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, standing, walking with occasional, climbing, kneeling, and related field work as requited. Ability to work for an extended period of time with personal protective equipment (PPE). Use repetitive hand motion Lift and carry heavy appliances up to 50 lbs. occasionally Work Environment Field work may require exposure to in indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. This may or may not include extreme temperatures. Field work may expose the employee to fumes and airborne particles. Field work may contain potential hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to chemicals, and working in high places.
