Equipment Operator IV - Roads (Full-Time)

- Operates construction and maintenance equipment within the classification.
- Operates other equipment when required.
- Inspects equipment daily and carries out minor servicing of equipment being operated.
- Reports all equipment defects.
- Fills out time cards and marks in proper account distribution.
- Reports materials used to the Supervisor, Leadhand, or stores personnel.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
- Must be proficient in the operation of equipment in this classification;
- Must be capable of performing manual labouring duties;
- Must be reliable and able to perform routine work with minimal supervision;
- Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English;
- Must be tactful and courteous with the public;
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class “D” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent with a ‘Z’ endorsement
- Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- Within one year of accepting the position, must attain Corporate Driver’s Certification and proficiency in the operation of two or more of the following: sidewalk maintenance equipment complete with all attachments; dump trucks; truck plows with wings; truck-mounted sanding/salting/pre-wetting units with on-board information systems; steamers; and jet rodders.
- Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract (uncertified)
- Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely
- Must be willing to work irregular hours and in adverse weather conditions
- Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
