Job DescriptionDescription
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Senior Project Engineer to work on our Demonstration Infrastructure and Support Project team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.
This person will be responsible for contract management, project oversight, requirements management, construction activities, support of technical program managers, development of engineering drawings, and all other activities and leadership associated with execution of NRIC programs.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide advice, consultation, and recommendations to management on the need to include the subject matter expertise and involvement of engineers in other engineering science disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.
Perform scheduling and layout of operations and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment.
Develop technical data regarding materials, sizes, qualities, dimensions, quantities, and costs to be incorporated into formal specifications. Develop specifications and ensure appropriate implementation.
Define the minimum viable product and work with program managers towards implementation without scope creep.
Provide guidance, development, and coordination for the planning, engineering design, and oversight of assigned projects. Actively pursue continuous improvement and the addition and incorporation of Integrated Safety Management (ISM) concepts into management system functions that guide daily work activities. This includes collaborating and integrating with other management system leads and processes.
Ensure that the assigned systems and processes change as research needs, business requirements, INL strategy, legal requirements, technology, upstream processes, and downstream processes change, or as weaknesses, opportunities, or threats are identified.
Lead or participate in Laboratory-wide engineering teams in the development of engineering standards of performance and processes.
Maintain an active role with other national laboratories and relevant commercial entities.
Ensure customer, sponsor, contractual, and regulatory requirements are identified and seamlessly integrated into the management system's functions, providing "trusted" information.
May routinely interact with chairs of associated committees/boards to discuss issues or items of concern and ensure performance is evaluated through assurance portfolios and quarterly reporting.
May serve as a resource and mentor on conduct of engineering questions/concerns. Interface with DOE and industry customer contacts regarding the EngMS and Conduct of Engineering.
Project management leadership for engineering activities including specification development, requirements management, product/project scoping and design, and interface with suppliers.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 14 years of relevant experience; or a Master of Science Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 8 years of relevant experience; or a PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 6 years of relevant experience.
Experience with implementation of Systems Engineering principles and processes
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Advanced degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Professional Engineer license.
PMP certification
Job Information:
The pay range for this position is $134,124 - $275,136. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, bend, and work in an office and laboratory environment.
