Electrician - Intermittet - G00 Civic Center

This position is responsible forperforming carpentry repair and maintenance on city-owned facilities. Intermittentevent staff position works Civic Center events.
- Changes light bulbs and ballasts; replaces faulty receptacles, switches, contactors, breakers, motors, and belts.
- Assists plumbers, HVAC technicians, telephone technicians, and representatives of the civic center maintenance department as needed.
- Repairs sliding doors.
- Performs plumbing and minor HVAC duties as necessary.
- Repairs kitchen equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Organizes work orders by priority; determines supplies needed to complete tasks.
- Assists with sporting events and special projects such as Christmas lighting and community festivals by installing and maintaining temporary electrical services as needed.
- Installs electrical outlets.
- Wires cubicles.
- Repairs or replaces speaker controls, cameras, monitors, and electric motors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of electrical supplies and materials.
- Knowledge of supervisory techniques.
- Knowledge of national electrical codes.
- Skill in reading voltage meters, blueprints, and electric schematics.
- Skill in electrical wiring, pipe running, wire pulling, and transformer hookup.
- Skill in the use of hand tools, a bucket truck, voltmeters, and amprobes.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to operate machinery used in performing essential job functions.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completionof specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skillstypically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience tounderstand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position,usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship orhaving had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability toreadily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for thetype of vehicle or equipment operated.
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, orcrouching. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may have to lift heavy objects, ifnecessary, and perform daily checks of work areas in the facility. Additionally, the following physical abilities arerequired:

The work is typically performed in an office,library, computer room, stockroom, warehouse, or outdoors, where the employeemay be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts,contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and cold or inclementweather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks,goggles, or gloves.
