Department Superintendent - Cedar Rapids, IA

Summary:
The Department Superintendent is accountable for the overall safety, regulatory compliance, production, cost management, and colleague development of a department in the Cedar Rapids Corn Processing Complex.

Specific Job Duties
  • Accountable for the overall performance of a production department
  • Maintain an environment that supports ADM Core Values
  • Aligns and communicates department production, and team goals with those of the complex, business unit, and organization
  • Lead teams of hourly and salary colleagues, size of team varies
  • Ensures that all external/internal regulatory programs are maintained at a high level
  • Support colleagues of varying levels in experience and skill sets while developing, training, and providing evaluation and feedback to continuously develop team(s)
  • Partner with Engineering Manager, Contractor Manager and Maintenance Superintendent on management of maintenance and projects to maintain operational capacity and efficiency of all assets within the department
  • Partners with other internal ADM teams for problem solving, optimization, project management and financial gains to execute continuous improvement projects that directly impact the department and plant KPIs
  • Supports Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, is an active member of the plant Food Safety Team
  • Communicates accomplishments and risks to all levels of the organization
  • All other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical, Agricultural, or Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of experiences in similar role, or 7+ years of experience in similar role
Preferred Skills & Experiences:
  • Operational planning and budgeting, and project management and budgeting
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety systems
  • Strong understanding of agricultural processing, including but not limited to corn, soy beans, cotton, etc
  • Experience with Chemical Safety, Food Safety, GMP, GFSI
Environment
  • Primarily Monday Friday, but available for operations outside of standard working hours
  • Work with various chemicals
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Lift 50 lbs
  • Carry ladders and tools
  • Climb ladders / stairs
  • Walk long distances
