Survey Crew Chief
Job Description
As a Survey Party Chief, you will play a crucial role in managing surveying operations, including boundary, topographic surveying, and construction staking for new commercial plots. You will oversee a small team and utilize advanced equipment such as Trimble and Robotic Total Stations to accurately document site conditions. This position involves communication with contractors and adjacent landowners, primarily focused on commercial site development in Des Moines.
Responsibilities
- Conduct boundary and topographic surveying.
- Perform construction staking for new commercial plots.
- Manage and lead a team of one survey helper.
- Utilize Trimble equipment and Robotic Total Stations for site documentation.
- Communicate effectively with contractors and adjacent landowners.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant surveying experience.
- Proficiency in leading 1-2 person crews.
- Ability to read construction plans and related documents.
- Experience with topographic surveys, robotic total stations, GPS, ALTA surveys, and construction staking.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of current work experience in construction staking, boundary surveying, and topographic survey.
- 2+ years of experience with Robotic Total Station or other GPS equipment.
- Strong communication skills to engage with contractors and community members.

You will be part of a civil engineering and land surveying firm known for its specialization in private land development. The team consists of professional engineers, land surveyors, field survey crews, and a landscape architect. The position is a result of company growth, with recurring customers and projects stretching across Iowa and surrounding states. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.50 - $41.00/hr.
