Project Manager Earthwork & Excavation

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Project Manager to oversee and coordinate all aspects of earthwork and dirtwork projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in excavation, site grading, or general contractor ground-up construction, with a proven ability to manage crews, budgets, schedules, and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and manage excavation and earthwork projects from start to finish.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure project goals are met.
  • Estimate future projects accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor project progress, adjust schedules as needed, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Lead and mentor field crews, ensuring productivity and quality standards are maintained.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in excavation, earthwork, or heavy civil construction.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of construction equipment, site logistics, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and construction documentation.
  • Valid drivers license; ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience communicating with general contractors and clients.
  • Well versed in the bidding process.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Knowledge of change orders, RFIs, and project coordination.
Work Environment

The work environment includes a newer office in Monona and heavy civil construction sites within Dane County. There will be no overnight travel. The position involves both office work and site visits to ensure crews are following orders, with communication required between contractors, clients, and stakeholders.e

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $57.70/hr.
