GFT is seeking a Senior Construction Inspectors to join our Construction Services team in the Fairfax area ! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our closest office (and/or on site at WMATA).

What you’ll be challenged to do:
The Inspector oversees, monitors and independently inspects routine construction phases for maintenance, bridge, track and signal installation and roadway tunnel and facility construction projects. Measures, tests, and checks materials, methods, and installations to ensure contractor conformance with plans, specifications, and contract documents. Documents contractor progress on a daily basis, inputs data into automated software systems, and generates reports and correspondence.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Experience with quality assurance and quality control techniques.
- Ability to utilize computer systems for documentation and data management
- Ability to read and interpret plans and contract specifications
- Skilled at applying mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments.
- Ability to communicate inspection items effectively and responsibly (verbally and in writing) with internal and external customers (i.e., contractors, owners, sub consultants, designers, architects and fellow team members).
- Ability to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, regular weekend and night work may be required
- Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain
- Ability to perform assigned discipline specific daily field inspections related to the construction of WMATA facilities on and in an active construction environment.
- Experienced in developing daily field inspection reports and document all discipline specific inspection work related items.
- Perform all work as instructed by the on-site construction manager.
What you will bring to our firm:
- 2-year construction related technical degree a , or the a equivalent of a high school diploma and vocational-technical training in basic construction-related technology
- 5 years relevant experience in transit or light rail construction industry(or equivalent working knowledge/experience
What we prefer you bring:
- Formal Certifications are preferred.
- Valid Driver’s license required
- Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Practical knowledge of engineering and construction practices and disciplines, and of the codes and regulations relating to different technical areas of construction.
- Solid understanding of construction inspection services, including documentation preparation and control
- Ability to carry 50 pounds (testing equipment).
