Cabinet Vision Drafter/Engineer

About Us
We are a high-end custom cabinet and furniture shop in Oakland, CA, with steady work and a strong project pipeline. Currently, most of our shop drawings are completed by subcontractors in AutoCAD before being redone in Cabinet Vision. We are looking to streamline this process and improve efficiency through Lean Manufacturing principles and standardized workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Create shop drawings, engineering plans, and cut lists as well as CNC programing using Cabinet Vision, Autocad, and other CAD/CAM software.
Develop and submit shop submittals for client approval.
Work with AutoCAD for initial drawings and assist in transitioning to a more efficient workflow. (We can train on Autocad if needed.)
Manage material orders and optimize nesting for production efficiency.
Collaborate with contractors, designers, and architects to finalize layouts.
Work closely with our shop foreman and project managers to maintain schedules.
Identify and resolve design and production issues proactively.
Help implement Lean Manufacturing practices to improve workflow and efficiency.
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for drafting, engineering, and production coordination.
Required Qualifications
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Cabinet Vision software.
Experience with AutoCAD and CNC operation is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of cabinet construction, joinery, and installation.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing or process improvement is a plus.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
A minimum of 5 years experience in cabinetmaking or woodworking
The ability to work in-person - due to the frequency of one-off designs and highly custom work we need a team member that can work at our office. There is a possibility of some remote work in the future but this would be only after a probationary period and would be occasional.
