Primary purpose:Performs repairs and maintenance on multiple types of heavy equipment, as directed by Crew Leader, Supervisor, or Manager, for Kinder Morgan Port Manatee Terminal, while following Kinder Morgan Inc. and customer policies, procedures, safety rules, and federal and state laws.Essential duties and responsibilities:Reads and understands parts books and schematic drawings to determine parts needed and work proceduresDismantles and repairs heavy equipment including excavators, forklifts, loaders, fleet vehicles, etc.Moves machinery and equipment as needed to check out and repair as neededRepairs and lubricates machines, equipment and heavy equipmentDiagnoses problems and make repairs to heavy equipment and assets i.e. dismantling, assembling, and installing parts and or service on equipment / machinery.Initiates repairs on mechanical engines and equipment Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment, and makes adjustmentsOperates a variety of tools/equipment such as cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools, power tools (impact wrench, drills, etc) and electric metersLubricates moving parts and operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specificationsAs directed performs activities of co-workersOther duties as assignedRequisitions and control spare parts inventoryCompetencies, skills, and abilities:Must be willing and able to work at heights above ground in order to provide maintenance functionsMust be willing to work shift and/or overtime hours during the week including after night hours, and/or weekends, and holidays as dictated by operationsRespond to emergency call-outs to perform maintenance dutiesDemonstrate aptitude to execute and maintain necessary recordsIn order to appropriately perform essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is requiredMust be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rulesAbility to carry out supervision/direction and work effectively and cooperatively with other peopleMust be able to successfully work with minimal direct supervisionMust possess general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices and processes relate to the material handling business segment, associated business units, and internal and external customers.Treat people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational values.Prioritize and plans work activities using time efficiently, plans for additional resources, organizes schedules of other people and their tasks, develops realistic action plans.Ability to communicate effectivelyRecommends measures to improve equipment performance, and quality of product handlingPhysical demands:Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, uneven terrain and high noise level in the work environmentRequired to stand, walk and climb for extended periods of timeCommunicate with supervision and co-workers via radio and hand signalsMust wear FRC clothingRegularly lift and /or move a minimum of 50 poundsEducation:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Experience / specific knowlededge:Must possess understanding of bulk handling operations/equipmentUnderstanding of diagnosing heavy equipment (Front End Loader, Track Hoe, Fork Lifts, etc)Understanding the maintenance of excavators, forklifts, loaders, fleet trucks, etc.Trouble shooting hydraulic and pneumatic repair on heavy equipment Certifications, licenses, registrations:Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurersMust ba able to obtain maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)Job level commensurate with experience and skill setsThe successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed
