Estimator - Site Development

Our client is a dynamic general contractor specializing in site development and vertical construction projects, including commercial builds, renovations, and infrastructure work. Their team is known for its attention to detail, strong collaboration, and delivering high-quality results across a wide range of civil and commercial construction projects. They are now looking for an Estimator - Site Development.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$75k - $100k base salary + 5% to 10% performance-based bonus

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-driven Estimator - Site Development to join our site development team. This role is ideal for someone with 2 - 3+ years of experience in estimating civil site work, including excavation, grading, utilities, and paving. As an Estimator - Site Development, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, contributing directly to the success of our bids and ongoing project profitability.

Responsibilities of the Estimator - Site Development:

• Analyze project drawings, specifications, and documentation to prepare precise cost estimates for site development work.
• Calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs across a variety of civil scopes.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and cost breakdowns using industry-standard estimating tools.
• Create and submit bid proposals and subcontractor scopes of work.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and scope coverage.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather vital project information.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations to align estimates with execution plans.
• Provide value engineering insights to identify cost-effective alternatives.
• Assist with change orders, pricing revisions, and support project managers during construction.
• Maintain accurate cost databases and historical pricing for future use.
• Contribute to strategic decisions around bid approaches with leadership and business development teams.

Required Experience/Skills for the Estimator - Site Development:

• 2 - 3+ years of estimating experience in site/civil construction.
• Strong understanding of site development work, including earthwork, stormwater, utilities, and grading.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting civil plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
• Experience with estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, Agtek, ProEstimate, or HCSS.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Estimator - Site Development:

• Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with project handoff processes and assisting during construction phases.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
