JOB DESCRIPTION

The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of overhead cranes to move bundles of extruded steel and aluminum throughout the manufacturing facility. This role ensures materials are transported to designated locations for production or storage, while strictly adhering to safety and operational guidelines. The operator plays a key role in maintaining workflow and minimizing downtime in a fast-paced production environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead cranes and hoisting equipment to lift, move, and position bundles of extruded steel and aluminum material.
  • Inspect cranes and rigging equipment daily to ensure safe operation.
  • Secure loads with slings, hooks, or other rigging devices.
  • Communicate with ground crew using hand signals and radio to coordinate movements.
  • Transport materials to production lines, storage racks, or shipping areas as directed.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations related to crane operation and material handling.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety issues, or damage immediately to supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist with general material handling and support tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Overhead Crane Certification preferred; Forklift Certification a plus.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Technical Education Training a plus
